Events organized by the INSEAD Politics Club
In addition to social events to foster dialogue between club members, the INSEAD Politics Club also organizes events with external speakers on campus. Those events typically focus on global policy topics, learnings from working in the political sphere or both. Below are some examples of recent events.
From business to politics: a conversation with Bill Morneau
Bill Morneau is an INSEAD alum who completed his MBA in 90’.
He served as Canada Finance Minister from 2015 to 2020 and he is part of the Board of Directors at CIBC (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce). Bill is a compelling speaker and author whose professional and personal journey can help us understand the intricacies of pivoting into politics after an MBA. His mix of experience in the private and public sectors offers a fascinating lens and many learning points for current students.
Polycrisis or poly-opportunities? Making sense of the next cycle of globalization a talk by Marcos Troyjo
Marcos Troyjo is a Distinguished Fellow at INSEAD’s Hoffmann Global Institute for Business and Society.
He served as President of the New Development Bank (NDB), where he established both the Environmental, Social, and Governance Department. Prior to this he served as Brazil’s Deputy Minister of the Economy and Special Secretary for Foreign Trade & International Affairs. Marcos taught at Columbia University, where he founded and headed the BRICLab. He is a member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Responsive Financial Systems.
Politics and public policy after an MBA:
a conversation with Elena Panaritis
Elena Panaritis is an INSEAD alum who completed her MBA in 03’.
She is a former member of the Greek Parliament and had worked for the World Bank for 12 years before her INSEAD MBA. She served as a senior economic advisor, handling the Euro and Greek Economic Crisis, to two Greek Governments (2009; 2015). Elena worked directly with three Greek Prime Ministers and the Minister of Finance, as well as EU and IMF high-level officials, lenders to Greece. She is the CEO and Founder of the Panel Group, a social enterprise which helps countries to establish secure property rights and support the creations of social enterprises.
